Well there's a lot of hate to be expected from online games and such. Pretty much all game communities will have a certain degree of toxicity (some more than others)! Best thing to do is to find a small group of friends with whom you can regularly play. Or go for dem sweet single player games (hype for red dead 2 is real).

To be fair, as long as there's no voice-chat i pretend that i'm a guy. Way less hassle. Jerks don't flirt with you, you can get into dickfights and have a great laugh about the whole sillyness, you don't get unwanted help because they just think you're a noob and they take you serious. As soon as you admit you're girl and accept a freebie, you're the mascot/noob of the group who will not get taken serious.

I always feel weird using a mic in games. I usually let them assume I am a guy. I used to say that I am a woman but that caused issues. I also used to have a gamertag with my race on it and that almost always brought out racists. So I made a new tag with something less identifying

Sadly I know how bad the gaming environment can be for girls. Meet a girl in CS:GO and started talking since the rest of the team where screaming in some Russian-sounding language. After the game she friended me and wanted to play more since I where one of the few that just treated her like another player and not like a girl(screaming stuff och being over all sexist). After playing with her for a while I understand why girls have a hard time getting into gaming, especially team-based games like CS:GO, Cod etc.

This could be a problem with the game you play, some like GTA V is really toxic, while others like tf2 or scp secret lab none existing. If you want to find friends, stay text for abit until you trust them enough. One of my female friends did that. I wish you good luck :)
