If you are newly vegetarian/vegan like me (ok, I'm maybe not 100%), and you like using chicken broth either for a simple soup or in recipes, this Orrington Farms broth base is a good choice. To start, it smells and looks like chicken broth. But more importantly, it tastes like chicken. Sure, maybe not the deep poultry umami you get from real chicken stock or demi-glace, but it's still a nice rich flavor. One really good thing is that unlike some other vegan bouillon, it's not just pure salt. In fact, when I use it to make sauces, I need to add some salt to really bring out the flavor, which is a good thing as it allows me to control the amount of sodium and the intensity of the flavor. Sometimes, though, I just want a nice soothing cup of broth and this does the trick for that as well.

I am quite pleased! This vegan broth really does taste a lot like the real thing. Since going vegetarian last year I have not been missing eating meat but have been craving the broth of chicken soup. I've tried a few vegetarian/vegan broths & bouillon cubes but none really mimicked the flavor well enough to satisfy my craving. I am so glad that I tried this Orrington Farms Vegan "chicken" broth base because I finally found a winner. It is close enough to the real deal to satisfy my taste buds. I will definitely purchase it again.

If a soup doesn't contain meat then I use this stock - why not make soup vegetarian if you can so meat-eaters and vegetarians can eat the same soup. Nobody has noticed any issues with my soups so I will keep using it since it cuts my workload

I read a review of this on Cook's Illustrated, where it was top rated, so decided to give it a try. I'm not a vegan, but use chicken broth fairly frequently and this seemed like a good alternative to crowding my pantry with big cartons of chicken broth. I used it in a batch of risotto and it was great; nice flavor and my husband had no idea it wasn't regular chicken broth. I will be buying more of this; it's so convenient and a nice alternative to canned or boxed broth. Plus, I don't have to worry when using this when we have vegan or vegetarian guests.

Before going vegan, I was a huge fan of Lipton Chicken Noodle soup (the packets that come in a box). I especially loved eating them when I was sick or not feeling well or super sad. My dad also made it a lot when I was a kid. So I was bummed I couldn’t eat it anymore after going vegan (vegan 3 years now). This stuff doesn’t taste EXACTLY like it but it’s pretty darn close. I put some of it in boiling water and add a bit of onion powder and garlic powder and then I add these noodles that I get from the “Mexican” aisle in the grocery store that are pretty much the same thickness and length as the Lipton noodles. Then I add a bit of parsley to make it look like the original and I eat it with saltine crackers. It makes me happy, nostalgic and feel better all at the same time. When I can’t find it in store, I buy it off Amazon. It came quickly and I had no issue with it.

I've been mostly plant-based for the past 4-5 months. It was hard at the beginning, especially trying to find recipes that offer good umami flavor. Soup is something we eat at least a couple times a week in our house (even during summer) so when it came to finding broth, I was happy to have stumbled across this item. The flavor is spot on, and not too salty. I usually add it to vegetable broth that I make with leftover kitchen scraps, just to punch up the flavor a bit. I'll even add it to sauces for stir fry. It's a pretty versatile ingredient. It gives a good amount of umami and it really does "taste like chicken." My husband is a meat eater (don't judge him too harshly, people), and he can't tell the difference. I've since bought this item at my grocery store (they finally started stocking it). Even if I do go back to meat, I'll still continue to buy this. It's worth the money, it tastes good, and I can sprinkle it in just about anything. What else do you need to know to add this to your Amazon shopping cart? :)

Much better than Vogue brand. The other brand I had to make much stronger in order to taste any flavor. With this one you don't want to do that! It's a strong flavor already. But the price here is crazy. I subsequently ordered from walmart.com

Yes, I am Vegan, and yes, I occasionally like to have familiar flavors in my foods. One comfort food, from childhood, whenever I was "under the weather", is a tiny pasta in chicken broth. Vegetable broth just doesn't have the same affect so I was very excited to find this product. Very tasty! Have also used as a marinate/soak base for various vegan staples, like tofu, soy curls, seitan. Recommend for any vegan who finds they miss old familiar flavors, not interested in giving up on the flavor but wanting to stay "cruelty free".

When I was sick as a kid, my mom would make me chicken broth. I swear, this stuff could be swapped with my mom's homemade chicken broth and I think I would still feel that comfort about it. I really like it a lot, it's definitely not over salted (or under) which I have found in other products like this. You also get a lot of bang for your buck. I've used it quite a bit and it still looks like I've barely dipped into it! Use the full portions of it. At first, I was hesitant and only used half the recommended amount because I was afraid of the salt content, but go for it. They designed the product well.

I use this whenever liquid is called for in a savory recipe. It adds so much depth of flavor! This is especially useful for clear broths when I'm feeling sick. Other vegan broths are either too vegetabley for my stomach or have sugar added, but I've been using this brand for a year or so and it's always hit the spot. I love adding it to tofu scramble, arroz con gandules, and rehydrating TVP for anything. I use it in soups like Chinese clear tofu soup, matzo ball soup, etc.
